Missions & Prayer Ministry
Missions
Our church is committed to putting faith into action through mission work, both in our local community and beyond. We believe that serving others is a vital part of living out our faith, and we seek to share God’s love through acts of compassion, generosity, and service. From organizing donations and food drives to participating in hands-on service projects, we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact. Whether it’s assisting local families, supporting global outreach efforts, or responding to crises with aid and prayer, we embrace every opportunity to help those in need. There are many ways to get involved, and we invite you to join us in serving others as we work together to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.
Some recent projects:
Merritt’s Chapel Ramp Outreach – We provide accessibility ramps on loan to members of our local community to reduce mobility barriers and improve quality of life.
“Blessing Bags” – nonperishable food for those in crisis
School supplies for local families in need
Meeting additional community needs as they arise
A few of the other organizations we have supported recently are:
Mabopane Foundation – Apex, NC and South Africa
CORA (distribution location for Summer “SNACK” program)
Ronald McDonald House – Chapel Hill, NC
Second Bloom of Chatham – Pittsboro, NC
Hurricane Helene relief – Ashe County, NC
Durham Rescue Mission – Durham, NC
Chatham County Social Services
Serving with Purpose
Local mission work reflects the incarnational nature of Jesus—meeting people where they are, offering hope, and responding to tangible needs with compassion and humility. As the body of Christ, we are not only called to believe, but to act—to extend grace, meet needs, and shine light in our communities. At Merritt’s Chapel, our mission efforts are an expression of our desire to follow Jesus' example by living out the Gospel in practical and heartfelt ways.
Prayer Ministry
We would love to pray with you.
Our Prayer Ministry is dedicated to lifting up the needs of our church family, community, and beyond. We believe in the power of prayer to bring comfort, healing, and guidance, and we are committed to supporting one another through faithful intercession. We seek to be a church that prays earnestly and trusts in God’s faithfulness. If you have a prayer need or feel called to be part of this ministry, we welcome you to join us in seeking God’s presence and peace together.
“I call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.”
Pray with our Congregation
Before worship, a clipboard can be found in the small entryway to our Sanctuary (narthex) where prayer requests can be written. These will be read-aloud at the appropriate time during our service, at which time others in our congregation have the opportunity to give voice to concerns for specific people and/or circumstances, as well as call attention to celebrations of God’s goodness in our lives.
We keep an ongoing prayer list which we share with the wider congregation through our newsletter. If you have a praise or a concern that you would like to be listed on the Merritt’s Chapel Prayer List, please send an email to info@merrittschapel.org.
"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" — Matthew 25:40
