Adult Ministry

Find genuine community.

At Merritt’s Chapel, we have learned from experience that faith is strengthened through community. Whether through study, fellowship, or service, there are many ways to connect with others and grow in your walk with Christ. Explore the opportunities below to find a place where you can belong, serve, and strengthen your relationship with God.

Thursday Night Dinners

“Dinner & Devotion” –Thursdays, 6:00 PM

Each week, our church family gathers for a warm and welcoming fellowship meal, open to all and free of charge. It’s a time to share good food, connect with one another, and enjoy the blessing of community. After the meal, we transition into a time of devotion—a message or activity centered on faith, offering encouragement and reflection for the week ahead. Childcare (ages 5-12) is available during the devotional time, and while there is no cost to attend, donations are always appreciated to help support this ministry. We invite you to come as you are and be part of this meaningful time together!

Occasionally, other church events may conflict with our Thursday night dinners. Please check our social media pages and newsletter for updates.

Adult Sunday School

Sundays, 10:00 AM

Known as “The Followers” Class, our Adult Sunday School begins each week at 10:00 AM before worship. We engage in thoughtful discussion and exploration of Scripture. Through thought-provoking reading and meaningful conversation, we seek to understand God’s Word and apply it to our daily lives. Whether you attend regularly or drop in occasionally, you are always welcome to be part of the conversation!

Check our email newsletter for information about our current study series.

“JOY” Group – Active Retired Adult Fellowship

Monthly get-togethers, afternoons

Thinking of themselves as “Just Older Youth,” our adult seniors add so much Merritt’s Chapel throughout all of our ministries, but they also get together to build friendships and grow in faith with each other. Our “JOY” Group gathers regularly for lighthearted connection—whether it’s an afternoon of board games at church or an outing to a local restaurant. Laughter is a staple at our gatherings, and we welcome anyone looking for a positive social outlet built on a firm foundation of faith. Whether you’re new to the area or have been part of our church for years, we encourage you to join us as we enjoy this season of life together. Check the calendar for the next get-together and invite a friend.

Women’s Fellowship

Monthly meetings, Sundays 12:30 PM

Our Women’s Fellowship is a welcoming group who come together each month for faith, fellowship, and service. We begin our gatherings with a short devotional time, sharing Scripture and encouragement before planning upcoming church events and outreach efforts. Committed to making a difference in our community, we take part in service projects and organize donations to support those in need. Whether you’ve been involved for years or are looking for a new way to connect, we invite you to join us at our next gathering!

Men’s Fellowship

Our Men’s Fellowship is a gathering where good food and meaningful conversations come together. We usually meet over breakfast before a Sunday morning worship, which provides a chance to reconnect and discuss ways we can serve our church and community. With a focus on stewardship, we work together to identify and fulfill needs within the church, whether it’s assisting with maintenance projects, supporting outreach efforts, or lending a helping hand where it’s needed most. Check the calendar for our next gathering—we’d love to have you with us!

Young Adult Involvement

Young adults are a vital part of our church family, bringing energy, talent, and leadership to many aspects of church life. While there isn’t currently a structured ministry group exclusively for their age group, they are actively involved in mentoring youth, singing with the choir for Christmas and Easter, assisting with service projects, supporting fundraisers, and much more. They help lead worship, volunteer in children’s ministries, contribute to mission work, and play an important role in church events and outreach efforts. Whether they have grown up in our congregation or found a church home here more recently, their presence enriches our community. We value their willingness to serve, connect, and grow in faith alongside people of all ages.

Shut-in Ministry

Our Shut-In Ministry is dedicated to caring for those in our church family who are unable to attend worship services, whether for a short time due to illness or recovery, or on a longer term basis due to age or disability. Our pastor and lay leaders make it a priority to stay connected, visiting in homes, nursing facilities, or hospitals to offer prayer, companionship, and encouragement. We bring church meals, inspirational materials, and help with transportation for special church events to help them remain engaged in worship and to remind them that they are loved and never forgotten. As a church, we are committed to living out Christ’s call to care for one another, ensuring that every member of our faith community feels included and valued.

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NLT)
